In our store, we have people asking about bagless vacuums. They almost never own one, and think the idea of "bagless" must be an improvement.
Are you thinking of buying a bagless vacuum? Do you know how often you have to change the HEPA filter? At least once a year, and more often if you have shedding pets. These filters cost an average of $25-39 each. High quality disposable bags cost less. Usually, they cost about a dollar per bag. Itr's virtually impossible to spend more money on bags that the bagless filters.
Maybe it's that the bagless vacuum is more sanitary? Do you have trash cans at home? Do you use liners inside the trash cans? Why? Isn't bagless better?
Of course not. The liner carries the enclosed filth with very little leaking out. After you dump the bagless vacuum container, some of what you dumped goes back into the air.
Bagless filters also slow down the speed of the airflow. This is the same airflow that is cooling the motor, and keeping the hoses unclogged.
In our store, when someone brings in a bagless vacuum cleaner for service...and they have had it for more than a few years...the motor is almost always bad.
Bagless vacuums haveanother name..."disposable".
Just our experience.
